Assistant Director

 

Position/Job Summary: Part Time Non-Benefited Employee / maximum 20 hours per week. Will assist the Executive Director and Council with carrying out the duties and tasks assigned to the Region from OEMS.

General Overview

The Metropolitan Boston Emergency Medical Services Council, Inc., one of 5 state designated Regional EMS Councils in Massachusetts responsible for coordinating emergency medical services in 61 cities and towns in the Metro Boston area, is seeking a highly qualified person for the role of Part Time Assistant Director. Under the general administrative direction of the Executive Director, this position is primarily responsible for providing a central information point for all providers relative to Education and Continuing Education requirements. Will review and approve Continuing Education applications, provide course monitoring of education courses within Region IV, pre-hospital treatment protocols, EMS regulations, administrative requirements and advisories, certification and recertification requirements, and regional committee meetings and initiatives.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Is responsible for Continuing Education review and approval. Responds to questions regarding continuing education, course content, approval process
  • Regional Training Officer responsible for the oversight and management of all unaffiliated EMTs within the region. Will be responsible to review recertification packets for appropriate documentation and requirement completion, communicating with unaffiliated EMTs regarding upcoming deadlines and responsibilities, responding to questions and concerns in a timely manner
  • Assists Executive Director with the development, revision, and updating of Service Zone Plans

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Assists with any other duties as assigned by Executive Director
  • Actively participates in regional activities and committees as assigned
  • Provides and attends State meetings / presentations as needed or required for the Region
  • Attends meetings within the Region, as requested / Assists in the coordination and preparation of information and acts as conduit between constituents and the Regional Office at these meetings/ Participates in EMS educational and promotional activities within the community as needed
  • Provides timely accurate synopsis of events for meetings attended on the Executive Director’s behalf
  • Independently completes special projects as assigned by the Executive Director to support the mission of the Council
  • Represents the Region at other state and regional meetings in the absence of the Executive Director

 

 

Required Skills / Abilities / Competencies

  • Experience with Salesforce, Conga, and CognitoForms
  • Strong organizational skills / Computer Literacy
  • Knowledge of Pre-hospital education requirements, national requirements
  • Knowledge of educational course development and teaching the adult learner
  • Knowledge of EMS systems, system design and Quality Improvement
  • Knowledge of Prehospital treatment protocols and communications systems
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts EMS Systems and Oversight
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communications skills both verbal and written / Proficiency in public speaking
  • Able to work with diverse groups to accomplish goals

 

Qualifications

  • Massachusetts EMT certification, Paramedic preferable (must be maintained)
  • Minimum 3 years EMS experience on an ambulance mandatory
  • Undergraduate degree in EMS or other similar healthcare related area, comparable experience and other education relevant to EMS

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Responds to MCIs to provide support when requested by Executive Director
  • Maintains the ability to respond within 1 hour 24/7 when on call
  • 20 hours per week in the office, schedule determined by functional tasks
