Pre-Hospital Committee Zoom Rescheduled April Meeting Date

As the Council is moving their office April 28th, we will have to reschedule the date of the next Zoom Pre-Hospital Committee meeting to Monday, May 5, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM.  Fred Freeman has asked that we send out his email below regarding this.

Dear Pre-Hospital Systems Committee Members,

At the quarterly Board of Directors meeting our Medical Director, Dr. Tollefsen, updated the Board with the current status of Low titer O+ Whole Blood (LTOWB) or Packed Red Blood Cells (PRBC) Transfusion for EMS. It is currently being discussed at the Medical Services Committee. Dr. Tollefsen solicited feedback from the Board and from our PHSCC. The issue and the details are far from determined at this time, but he asked that we consider providing some input to what the foundation would look like, if in fact it is advanced forward and approved. The feedback from the Region IV Board of Directors was that it, rather obviously, should be some type of regional (catchment area) approach. The added preparation, time, expense, care and especially potential waste, all need to be considered for carrying blood. Please review the attached material and be prepared for a discussion at our next meeting.

Our next meeting was scheduled for April 28th , but will need to be changed, as it will coincide with the day of Council office move. We have rescheduled the meeting for Monday, May 5th at our normal time. A notice will go out closer to the meeting.

Again, please give some thought to the documents and how this could impact EMS in Massachusetts and how it should be developed.
